Don’t Just Pray for Revival, DO REVIVAL!

bacon and eggs

Breakfast is ready to serve, are you?

Earlier I wrote that we need to pray for revival. We need to drop the ulterior motive of restoration and really pray for revival that few would be left behind at the rapture when ever that might be. That at this juncture in history of earth and time we, in the time of the Gentiles, continue to do our part until the end, with or without the promise of the return of creature comforts.

Well, then, I got this image of churches calling together the faithful, spending a couple of hours in prayer (some a whole 15 minutes) that the Lord would send His Holy Spirit and bring revival across the land. That God would redeem everyone from bondage, bind the broken spirits, lift the faint, restore His church. Sounds great. Then everyone goes home and “waits on the Lord”. Kinda of like putting  the bacon and eggs out on the counter, praying for breakfast and waiting for it. Whoa! Isn’t that part of what’s gotten us in this mess in the first place. We open our church doors, adjust our programs and activities and hope for those to walk in.

NOOOOOO! The command in Matt 28:19-20 is GO MAKE, not sit and wait. He didn’t say those with the gift of evangelism go and the rest sit. What we need to do right now is not simply pray for revival, we need to DO revival.

We need to get out of our comfort zones. Time is short. Everyday we need to read, pray, obey, and go. Lifestyle evangelism was popularized for the intrepid a while ago. You were taught, lead folks to Christ by the way you live, and that’s true except that it has become the crutch and excuse not to go out. Yes, we need to live lives worthy of Christ, with a sacrifice attractive to the lost. But all the while mindful that the days are evil and time is short and God will require the direct approach.

The time of “prosperity evangelism” is over. We have fallen apart as a country because God is rejecting those who make their claim to Christ based on what the return is that they can get. The time is coming that Jesus is returning to claim His faithful, whose hearts are set on Him, who have rejected this world and everything in it to follow Him. Are you ready for Jesus coming? Have you been fooled into thinking that you can have your cake and eat it too. Jesus called, and demanded, all who follow Him, to leave it all behind. Are you one who was misled? Are you still clinging? Jesus wants all of you, He is coming to take you to a greater glory if you give yourself wholly to Him. Is your heart burning within you now? Take this opportunity to reclaim the gift, or if you’ve never really done it, accept Jesus wholly . Do it now…

I'm a musician and worship leader, intent on following wherever God leads and directs me, with His leading's in the Spirit and others bonking me on the head ( hopefully not much of the latter). My life experiences are in blue collar and white collar (engineering) employment, political office, lay ministries, national competition in track and cross country and most importantly marriage and raising a family. God has given me a unique set of skills and character to serve Him and a passion for doing it.

  1. I don’t have a problem with people believing in a pre-trib rapture as long as they recognize you cannot use it as an excuse to be lazy. I do not believe in a pretrib rapture. I have spoken out against it because it is a very dangerous teaching that does lead to laziness in the church. I love you and consider you my brother in Jesus Christ. If there is no pretrib rapture it is going to damage a lot of people’s faith in Jesus and many will turn on Jesus and embrace the anti-christ one world religion. The teaching of the pretrib rapture has damaged a lot of people and made them lazy and long for the tribulation to happen and they are not prepared because of that. The fact is you are absolutely correct. We need to stop praying for a revival and get out there and work for a revival. We need to preach revival to the church! We should stand up for what is right, even against people we are terrified to lose. You take care and keep up the great work buddy! Do you know yet if you are moving out the farm for sure?

    • Not yet. You know how God works, sometimes it’s hurry up and wait. He has lot’s to teach along the way so that we can go into farming prepared.

Actually, I’m kind of a pre-trib, mid-trib guy. Too many things make it look mid-trib but can always hope for pre-trib. Non-the-less, after over 40 years, nothing is going to dampen my hope in Christ Jesus. 🙂

Love you too bro, give a hug to the wife & JR

  2. One thing the Lord has instilled in me is don’t get angry with Him.
That is a very dangerous place to be,especially complaining angry.

A good example are the folks that He set free, redeemed from captivity in Egypt. It wasn’t long before complaining became the disorder of the day.

“Now when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp……
Now a wind went out from the Lord, and it brought quail from the sea…And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail… But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was aroused against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very great plague. So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.”
    Numbers 11

I spent about 25 years simmering angry with God because He didn’t ‘give, give, give me a wife and family like He did everyone else.
After so long down the stubborn road I came to realize you can’t fight God and win and that He is always right even though we think we are.

I see the majority of those who believe the easy, early escape rapture will get angry with God when He does not show up on their time (He never does, does He) and this will open the door for Satan to fall them away fast.
God in His mercy and patience gave me so much time but we’ve pretty much run out of time.

    • That is so true, and why I felt a need to address it. So many have come to me about “if my people will humble….I WILL RESTORE the land” ad nauseam. Some people are even afraid to entertain that we are in end times because they’re too attached to the things of the world. The Harold Camping crowd proved your point. I never understood why so many sold everything they had. It proved to me that they loved their things or money and wanted to enjoy while there was still time. When Jesus calls, none, none, none of that stuff will matter to you.

What matters now is kingdom business. And really, I can’t fault people too much it’s only over the last year and a half that God has really stirred up a hunger in me. But now, I seek to light that fire under as many as I can, while I can. If I’m going to die, I want to die with my boots on, doing the work…

  3. Every day I’m praying for the Lords strength to endure what is coming because I know I’m nothing and incapable of doing anything without him.Just like a little child.

How can the “rapture” be “imminent”? Acts 3:21 says that Jesus “must” stay in heaven (He’s now there with the Father) “until the times of restitution of all things” which includes, says Scofield, “the restoration of the theocracy under David’s Son” which obviously can’t begin before or during Antichrist’s reign. (“The Rapture Question,” by the long time No. 1 pretrib authority John Walvoord, didn’t dare to even list, in its scripture index, the too-hot-to-handle Acts 3:21!) Since Jesus can’t even leave heaven before the tribulation ends (Acts 2:34,35 echo this), the rapture therefore can’t take place before the end of the trib! (The same Acts verses were also too hot for John Darby – the so-called “father of dispensationalism” – to list in the scripture index in his “Letters”!)
Paul explains the “times and the seasons” (I Thess. 5:1) of the catching up (I Thess. 4:17) as the “day of the Lord” (5:2) which FOLLOWS the posttrib sun/moon darkening (Matt. 24:29; Acts 2:20) WHEN “sudden destruction” (5:3) of the wicked occurs! The “rest” for “all them that believe” is tied to such destruction in II Thess. 1:6-10! (If the wicked are destroyed before or during the trib, who’d be left alive to serve the Antichrist?) Paul also ties the change-into-immortality “rapture” (I Cor. 15:52) to the posttrib end of “death” (15:54). (Will death be ended before or during the trib? Of course not! And vs. 54 is also tied to Isa. 25:8 which is Israel’s posttrib resurrection!)
Many are unaware that before 1830 all Christians had always viewed I Thess. 4’s “catching up” as an integral part of the final second coming to earth. In 1830 this “rapture” was stretched forward and turned into a separate coming of Christ. To further strengthen their novel view, which the mass of evangelical scholars rejected throughout the 1800s, pretrib teachers in the early 1900s began to stretch forward the “day of the Lord” (what Darby and Scofield never dared to do) and hook it up with their already-stretched-forward “rapture.” Many leading evangelical scholars still weren’t convinced of pretrib, so pretrib teachers then began teaching that the “falling away” of II Thess. 2:3 is really a pretrib rapture (the same as saying that the “rapture” in 2:3 must happen before the “rapture” [“gathering”] in 2:1 can happen – the height of desperation!).
Other Google articles on the 182-year-old pretrib rapture view include “Pretrib Rapture Politics,” “Pretrib Rapture Scholar Wannabes,” “Famous Rapture Watchers,” “Pretrib Rapture Diehards,” “X-Raying Margaret,” “Edward Irving is Unnerving,” “Thomas Ice (Bloopers),” “Walvoord Melts Ice,” “Wily Jeffrey,” “The Rapture Index (Mad Theology),” “America’s Pretrib Rapture Traffickers,” “Roots of (Warlike) Christian Zionism,” “Scholars Weigh My Research,” “Pretrib Hypocrisy,” “Appendix F: Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Thieves’ Marketing,” “Pretrib Rapture Secrecy,” “Deceiving and Being Deceived,” “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty,” and “Christ’s return is NOT imminent!” – all by the author of the bestselling book “The Rapture Plot” (see Armageddon Books).
