What’s this country coming to and even more so, what’s up with North Carolina? The state, with the city of Chapel Hill, has gotten into more than it’s share of anti-Christian junk and now this comes out, where chaplains have to steer clear of Jesus. Pastor Terry Sartain, a police chaplain, is told by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Dept he can’t invoke the name of Jesus when he prays at public ceremonies. When he asks what he should pray, then, he’s told to pray something secular.
A while back when this secular movement was gaining traction and the words religion and religious kept being tossed about I got to thinking about those words. You’d hear statements of he/she did that religiously, a scientist/researcher did his work religiously so I did an English dictionary look up. To say someone got religion because he came to know the Christ Jesus has been terribly wrong, in reality, he’s simply changed his religion. I found it amusing to note that even we Preppers are religious, by definition.
To check Merriam-Webster you’ll find:

b : the doctrine that there is no deity
- And now the biggy:
- a : the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
- : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
- archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness
- a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
So by these definitions, the Atheist is religious about his religion which is, in fact, merely, not believing in a Deity, secular, a religion by definition. So in North Carolina ( all 50 states actually), officials are telling, demanding, Christian chaplains speak in the name of a state endorsed or established religion. This position is in violation of the 1st Amendment on so many levels. Not only are they being denied free exercise of religion, but by being told to speak secularly, the state is endorsing and establishing a religion, violating the establishment clause. No where does the Constitution state or imply freedom FROM religion, that would be impossible. The atheists along with the ACLU have long pushed, wrongfully, that the Constitution gives a guarantee of freedom from Christianity. This putting God in the closet has been going on for decades, but has been gaining traction as more and more “christian” churches join the Apostasy (see churches that support Americans United for Separation of church and state).
Our faith is under attack, it has been, but it is growing exponentially now. More and more people or institutions are being put out or forced out of the public eye and replaced with the government approved religious representation. The result is a country in apostasy. A treading near or even having crossed the line for its ultimate judgement and destruction. God has been slow to act in judgement, but it is coming and even now at hand. The country is worshiping images of wood and stone and electrons. Time is of the essence in being prepared or spared for that fateful day of God’s judgement.
Are you prepared? Is your life in order? I think of the flight instructions you sometimes get when flying. When talking about the oxygen mask sometimes the instructions are given, if you are traveling with a friend, put yours on first. Similarly, Jesus said to get the plank out of your own eye, then you can see to get the speck out of someone else’s. Don’t wait to see how it goes with someone else, get your life with God fixed first, then help theirs. There is no better time than now because you may not have tomorrow. Surrender your will, and religion, to Jesus Christ and the freedom He brings you. Salvation from Hell, and hell on earth, is just a breath away. Do it now!
