It’s Friday, But Sunday’s a Comin

it's friday

I know it’s Friday, for many just a day, for others an incredible holy day. A time of sorrow, for some a time of joy. For non-believers a time when history just continued to move on, another rebel on the cross, an insignificant killing by the Romans like so many of the thousands before, hardly noteworthy except by a couple contemporary historians and that only in passing. There are some who argue it wasn’t really Friday, but that’s a different discussion.

A guy hung on a cross, and true as the Chief Priest had hoped, His followers scattered like bugs under a rug.  Now we can get on with the status quo, keep the Romans happy and out of our way. Now, time to get someone busy fixing the veil to the Holiest of Holies that got torn in the earthquake, what a bummer that was. We’ll get going on that after the Sabbath, …where’s that duct tape….

And His followers, champions all of them. Peter, pretty much swore by Heaven and earth that he’d never forsake Him and all the others nodded in agreement. So tonight they’ll be hiding in a cubby somewhere, nearly peeing themselves at every sound of a foot step. They’re next on the hit list, hanging out with this guy for the last three years. What are they going to do now, their livelihood is gone, they’ve been riding His coat tails this long. They could never face their old friends. What to do….

And in another totally different realm, unseen to human eyes there’s dancing and celebration. Lot’s of high fives going around. We’ve taken care of Him, we won, strength in numbers and boy do we have the numbers. He thought He could win, this is our world, He gave it to us to do what ever and now because He lost we have a lot of fun ahead….

Lost in all this is the fact that  He, knowing man, gave Himself up, willingly. He knew, from the beginning of time that man would need help, that there would need to be a sifting and that only those wholly devoted would be able to enter into His father’s presence, with His help. When man transgressed the law only the purest of sacrifices would suffice. Since man could not accomplish it, He offered the purest of sacrifices to cover all offenses, Himself. With this one selfless giving, He gave the gift that keeps on giving.

Jesus came, He taught and refreshed, He gave Himself up as a sacrifice for our imperfection, defeated sin and death on the third day by rising from the grave. And He left us with a gift and a promise. All we have to do is accept that gift, and give ourselves to Him who has promised to redeem us, protect us and return to bring us home to Him. If you’ve never accepted Jesus, look deeply into yourself, understand the sin that drives you and release it to Jesus and accept His gift to you. If you think you’ve taken that step and walked away leaving that gift on the doorstep, come back to Him, look around at this world as it’s falling apart signaling His impending return, come back to Him, time is short. It’s Friday………but Sunday’s a commin…

Gog and Magog Revisited

/George Henton/Al Jazeera
A Russian soldier sits atop an armoured vehicle outside the Ukrainian army base not far from the region’s capital, Simferopol. It is one of a number of bases around the Crimea currently surrounded by Russian troops.

Well, as we continue to be locked in here in the Midwest by snow and sub-frigid temperatures things are heating up in other parts of the world. No, it has nothing to do with global warming, but it has everything to do with the condition of the world and the times we live in. Depending on how you read it Russian troops have invaded Crimea of the Ukraine or Russian troops have entered in to protect Russians in the Crimea. Ukraine claims up to 16,000 troops are on soil right now. Russian President Putin has stood his ground claiming the need while the POTUS wags his finger and says “get out of there or else”. Okay we won’t go there for now. Prison Planet has blamed this on the POTUS arrogance and hubris, maybe, but then Putin is claiming Western influence as the problem also.

Criminy, what’s the Crimea anyway? Continue reading

Here We Go, King Obama Has Done Spoke!

obama pointing finger

Now you listen to ME!

Well, there ya have it. We’ve warned, cajoled, shouted front the house tops and now, out the mouth of the king himself, comes the declaration that the US Constitution is meaningless. Whether Congress goes with him or not he’s going forth with his own agenda and purpose. We presented to you Obama as king in, “Obama, Messiah, King of the Lose” and what the Bible told us about another nation that wanted to turn from the sovereignty of God to a earthly king, “like all the other nations…”  Continue reading

What are you waiting for?

Bethlehem

And the star shone brightly over head, showing the place.

Merry Christmas! And if I missed offending someone, Merry Christmas, peace on earth, goodwill toward men, the Christ has come. There, I said it, expect no apologies. Whether it’s the right day, the left day or somewhere in between. Whether you believe in the God of Abraham or the god of man’s finite and ever-changing wisdom. Whether you’re drunk on eggnog or have drunk the new wine of the Holy Spirit. This is the time and the message of the season and even more the entire year. Nothing black about it.

So what are you waiting for? Continue reading

So, what is an AR15?

AR15 and 870

AR15 and 870 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

A lot of to do has been and is being made about the AR15, so what’s up?  The disarmers are trying their best to strike fear and loathing for the weapon. Or, as in the recent shootings at the Naval base, Feinstein referred to it as the weapon of choice. But, oh wait, the shooter didn’t have an AR15, just a shotgun and two pistols. So where did the AR15 come from? Oh, he had one in his hands the week before, but not this week. OOOOPS! Guilt by association.

So what happened? Continue reading

We Got Cows!

cows

Our new herd

The phrase is taken from the movie “Twister” when they were caught in a tornado and cows came spinning by, and we still pinch ourselves as an almost equally incredulous expression. We have cows. Why, we’re asked? You don’t even have a farm, what’s the logic in that? Answer, because God says. Whenever I see or hear a preacher talking about logic, it’s only logical, it only makes sense, in regard to God and His workings I always wonder what Bible he is reading. Continue reading

Love Never Fails

handsAt this time in history, when so much prophecy is breaking out to fruition, when many friends and family are passing away and the prophetic comes out for readiness, I can’t help but feel a quiet anticipation, joy and fulfillment that the time is near, or here, that the perfection is about to come, the time of completeness. Jesus is about to return for His Bride and all the things that seemed so important will fall away when He comes in His completeness. Like the Hebrew marriage, we are betrothed to Him and He has gone to prepare the wedding chamber, and when complete He will return for His Bride. And that would be us, we who love Him. Today is Pentecost Sunday (not Pentecost for the sake of my detractors) When we celebrate God’s outpouring and Gift of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and power. Continue reading

Don’t Be Troubled

In response to Glynda’s message “Nothing To Fear“.

“”Good morning Glynda,

Yes, it has seemed a little worrisome in the silence. It hasn’t been just you, but for many of us. And your confirming Word is that He HAS been working all along, just as He promised us, through Word last year.

In looking behind (I know, we shouldn’t look back) we can see He has been carrying us, no harm has befallen us, some of us have been put into a forced(?) “be still and know I am Lord” period.

For some it is a disconcerting period, not hearing Words of judgement and calamity, but, God fulfilled His Word and put into action in November, that which was warned. There is no need to HEAR a Word right now, look around and see the evil unleashed as God withdraws His hand of protection.

“Be still”, until God specifically calls you into action, and enjoy His presence by your side. Let not your hearts be troubled, He is here. Continue reading

You Will Always Have the Poor

godsfingers:

Poor by circumstance, poor by choice, poor in spirit, you will always have the poor. Americans still, even under the judgements, haven’t got a clue. Some government handouts leave the “poor” American better off than middle class in some countries. Only in submitting to Christ can one find the true riches and glory that can’t be bought or sold, that exceed anything that can possibly be dreamed up on earth.

Great job, Ben

The other day, we were taking soup to the homeless when a man approached us.  He told us, “Come with me.  There is a family that is very poor.  Many people visit them and give them clothes.  You can even take pictures of them.”  That really bothered me.  Take pictures of them… like they’re monkeys in a zoo and not people, like all I cared to do was get my “feed the homeless” badge and then be on my way, like their value was about as much as the time it would take for a  couple photos…

When we arrived, we found a house in shambles but all the kids decently-dressed and looking mostly well-fed.  They gladly received hot soup and prayer, but the whole time I felt like they saw me as nothing more than a visitor taking pictures at the zoo.  (We didn’t take any photos, just so…

The Number 13

13What’s in a number? I ask that because I posted in regard to the number 13 being as the number of rebellion. I don’t generally get in to the numerology kick, for one, I don’t have the time and two, usually as I read I see some real stretching. So in my conversation with my pastor I’d mentioned the number 13 being the number of rebellion and he paused, then said show me. Well, that set me off on an interesting and confusing sojourn. Is He Dead, Alive, Inbetween?

crusifiedToday we celebrate Good Friday (black Friday in my book, Satan thought he had his victory) and the discussions erupt again about Pagan holidays, the chronology of events, blah, blah. And the atheists laugh at all the drawn swords over the keystone event for Christians. At this time when we remember the most crucial time in the history of man, and God’s work, so much separation and fighting seemingly undo the work of the Cross, the sacrifice for those sins, and His subsequent victory over Death Sunday morning. Thank goodness, it can’t be undone. Continue reading

I’ve been thinking about grace lately

godsfingers:

Awesome Grace, God’s Grace. Unmerited favor from God, we don’t deserve it, can’t earn it, it’s not for sale. God freely gives it if we’re not too proud to take it up.  No amount of intellectual reasoning can achieve it. God freely gives it, by His Spirit, still alive and working today as it was in the time of the Apostles. Good job, Ben.

Originally posted on Footsteps In The Deep:

Lately, the topic of “grace” has been on my heart.  It’s such a powerful word, and yet most of us don’t even have any idea about what it means.  We read it in the Bible all the time (“Grace and peace to you…”) and use it even in our everyday lives (“Just give me a little grace this time…”).  It’s almost like we’ve gotten so familiar with it that we forgot what it means, like when you repeat a word over and over and over again so that it eventually loses all meaning.

Grace.  It changes everything.

Just take a look at what grace does according to Ephesians 2:4-9.  It reads, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us…

We Buried My Grandson, or Did We?

Sometimes things are difficult to write, this is one of them. Last week we buried my grandson. I never got the childchance to know him. He was here, then he was gone, far too quickly. Before anyone had a chance to coo with him, change a diaper, wonder how long he could keep on crying. He was gone, in quietness. Gone were the great plans. Plans for a great future. Plans for a prolific sports career. Plans for following in his father’s footsteps. Preparations made now become a short memory. Travis Floyd Taylor was laid to rest while those of us left behind stand in wonderment, full of questions and not enough answers. He was God’s creation. Continue reading

The Gig is Up, World!

(AP wirephoto)

Canceling the armistice,  is this unexpected? I’ve been pondering the intentions of North Korea over the last couple weeks and wanted to write but unexpected events took precedence. Am I surprised by this announcement? No.  North Korea has been looking for an excuse to flex it’s muscles while the world has been smirking at the little schmuck. Continue reading
