Pray for Revival not Restoration

pray

I’ve heard a lot lately about praying for revival, that there’s still time to save this country if we would just pray for revival. They quote:

2 Chronicles 7:14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

They cling to the hope that America will return to its former glory. Whoa, God’s in the life saving business, not the country saving business. I wrote about this a couple of months ago in “For the USA, revival or restoration?“. But what if the coin is already set? What if the final count down is ticking, the judgement is at hand? Do you still pray for revival?

“But, but, but but, God said He will heal the land if we humble ourselves”. I hate to break it to you but the Bible also says, concerning Josiah, in :

2 Kings 23:24-27 24 Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord. 25 Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.

26 Nevertheless, the Lord did not turn away from the heat of his fierce anger, which burned against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to provoke him to anger. 27 So the Lord said, “I will remove Judah also from my presence as I removed Israel, and I will reject Jerusalem, the city I chose, and this temple, about which I said, ‘There shall my Name be.’[a]

God is just, He is sovereign, He is the beginning and the end. Nothing we do to manipulate Him will change His decree.

“but, but, but what about Abraham and Lot?” , you really don’t want to go there, not even ten righteous could be found.

“okay, okay okayeeeee. I’ll just sulk and get raptured. Let the evil take care of itself.”

“Oh really? So now you’re not hot to trot on bending your knees, fasting, praying and travailing for revival? Spending all your available time seeking the lost? Why not?”

“What’s the use?”

pray

Lest we forget:
Isaiah 42:7
“to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.”

And therein lies the problem. My little pseudo convo captures the essence of this problem we have and why we’re here where we are. The god you’d be praying to is the god of stuff. You’d be praying for the restoration, the return to greatness, the return to …… stuff.

Is the prayer for revival here any different from the prayer for revival in Romania, Ecuador, Mexico, how about Europe, Russia? Folks, when we committed to Christ we were given only one direct marching order:

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

It’s our job, until He comes and takes us up to Him, to do everything in our effort right now, at this time to do His command. Pray for revival? For the lost? Yes. Because He said so. Never should our motivation be for a return or restoration. We pray because it’s our job to do until He returns.  Or are you being Jonah, sitting under the plant gloating?

Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city. Then the Lord God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.

If you’re finding motivation difficult, or that you feel it’s not worth it then what you need to do is, like Joel Rosenberg points out in his book, “Implosion”, draw a circle on the floor, step inside the circle and then pray for everyone inside the circle for repentant hearts and love for the lost. Lest you find yourself left behind.

God brought you here, to this article, because He has a message and a desire for you. He loves you and has great desires for you in your obedience. He is coming for His redeemed church, there are those that will be left for the tribulation, but He wants to find you ready when he comes. A heart truly sold out to Him, doing His work until He comes.

“Father God, I pray for those who come today and read what is written for I believe it is what You would have of them. Touch their hearts, bring conviction for the lost, a soft heart for those dying, a passion to see, even those who’ve offended, brought to you, saved from that which is coming that none can endure. Lord I pray through this letter that you build a mighty force, and bring revival to this land, not for earthly riches but for the richness of you goodness and glory. In Jesus name, Amen.”

  1. I don’t really see anywhere in the Bible that says to ‘pray for revival’…I do however see something that is if ever rarely taught….”Pray your flight will not be in the winter”….

Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
As for this post it is exceptional …in fact I wish to God many would ‘hear’ …the Word of The Lord in it…I do fear for the brethren who believe America can go back …to what ever time the particular ones want it..though that time was full of evil also!

  2. Praying, the ‘fullness of Gentiles':
Romans 11:25 “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”

    Col 2:2
    That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Bro. Richard states it pretty well too, why are we surprised when the ‘world’ acts like the world!

    • Hi Dianne,

      • Thanks Dan for letting me know.
        Appreciate! and respect that.
Just came across your site from Stan’s who linked your CO posting. Hard reality, but necessary to note.

        • Thanks.

I’m afraid so, whether false flag or not, these are indeed evil times. I was just thinking this morning about my pray for revival not restoration post that I’m not entirely accurate. I had visions of churches getting together, having a revival prayer meeting then everyone go home and wait. No, indeed we need to pray but the real call, Christ’s command is not to pray for revival, but to go out and DO REVIVAL…
