In America, today, we celebrate our declaration of independence from tyranny, subjugation, taxation, encroachment and control. We celebrate God-given rights and freedoms that men fought and died for, that we may enjoy liberty. At least we did five decades ago. But Whoa! Something happened on the way to the forum.
As of last Thursday, SCOTUS declared that YES, even though God may be sovereign, and you believe Him for your health, you can be forced to pay a tax to practice that belief. In supporting the tax mandate for healthcare (excluding choice voting groups and individuals, of course) and all the provisions in the law, SCOTUS has determined that the government CAN step in and control when you live or die, what your “quality” of life is, monitor you and even inter you.
In five short decades America has become an even worse replacement for the former Soviet Union when all the facets of these laws kick in. What are we celebrating for? We should be mourning. In three short years one man, the POTUS, has prepared to unleash the powers of hell on an entire country and world. And our Constitution is moot. America returns to tyranny, subjugation, taxation, encroachment and control.
Many many years ago one man, Adam, through the help of Satan, in the form of a snake, also brought man bondage and death through sin. By himself, helpless to fix it, sin and pain took over as man fell further and further into depravity and perversions. But God, in His wisdom and compassion, made a way. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die, and pay the price for sin and liberate us from the control of Satan.
We no longer have to be bound and subject to the grasp and hold of sin. We can let go and let God. In these increasingly oppressive times we can have freedom and knowledge that this is short-lived. Jesus came and set us free.
Ephesians 2:1 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, “
I Cor 6:9-11 “…Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. “
I Cor 7:21 “Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so.”
The focus is on “were”. You don’t have to be, you can be released from the bondage. Jesus is calling you right now. The world events, the events in this country, the natural and unnatural disasters all point to one thing, Jesus is coming, very soon. He is calling you right now, to set you free, take advantage of it, don’t ignore Him, take the freedom He has for you. Celebrate YOUR independence day. If you already have Jesus as your friend, brother and Savior don’t neglect the gift He has given and share it now, as time is short.
Galations 5:1 “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free,[a] and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. “
Happy Independence Day!
